Yesterday I was meeting a friend in Midian city, you all know very well: KIKO ! Of course, I could not resist jumping right into the game and started my own little RP, not having any idea, what Midian city actually is about ! *grins* But hey, what can happen ? They can kill me, but strangely my avatar always returns ?!??!! (=P)

"Girl you need to calm down... or buy a gun...one of the two... cause someone eventually is just plain out gonna attack your ass, you got a target on yu...." well being new to Midian would do that... and being loud and crazy would too.... she couldn't help but smirk at the girl though.

That is why I hate KoS lately....

Funny that my last poste is completely the opposite. Lately I am more and more bored in KoS, miss the old times, when I started here and just go crazy everyday new ! What happened ? This is a personal analysis, and WARNING: it got looong ! *smirks*

The Kingdom of Sand Sim title is Action Roleplay Game. There are three important words in it, worth to have a closer look on:

Action :
Well action we still have. Yes action is even the ONLY thing we have lately. Many players just log in, say salaam, test their swords and start running into the desert to fight, kill, capture. This lasts for a while until their fingers get sore. then they come back to the auction and pull their captive on the auction pole, shouting a simple: "Bedugirl/undead/citizen/knight for sale ! Come and place your bids !"

While waiting for the transaction to finish, they already get visibly nervous. When everything is done, you only see some dust as they disappear into the desert again to fight, kill, capture.

This for sure is big fun ! Even for a none fighter like me it is big fun ! I always enjoyed fighting, although I already knew I will loose ! But in the past, I knew I will get a roleplay after ! The captor took his time to roleplay things out, now its mostly a simple sell, a caging and letting the captive rott in his/her prison. Often I witness even, that the captor just frees his captive and runs along to fight more !! If this is all KoS is about, wouldn' t be the name "combat sim" instead of "action roleplay"..........?

Roleplay:
Here we come to my absolutely favorite (?!?!) topic the last weeks ! To be honest: if I were an explorer coming to KoS and trying to follow a bit of the roleplay that is going on, I would tp out right away ! Why? Let me give you some examples:
First of all abbreviations: LOL, OMG, ROFL, BRB, TY, YW....do you seriously speak that way in real life ? I doubt this ! Roleplay is a game, which main part is to write and emote what you do, what you say and what you feel. If I am talking to someone and I make a joke, he normally laughs, perhaps gives an answer. But sooo many people are not able to write /me laughs " that was funny !", instead you see a "lol, that was funny !"

Seriously, is the time you need to type "/me laughs" sooo much longer then typing "lol "? It is a matter of seconds ! It does look so much nicer when you type it out and the most important fact is: LOL is NO roleplay ! That is PC language you can use in a nightclub or a shopping mall in SL, but it has nothing to do with roleplay !

So is this Neko speaking: the using of ^^ ^---^ :__: ;__; <<>

>> etc....not only I do not understand most of the time what the person wants to say with it ( yes, yes I got told these are faces, and NO I don't see faces in this ! But perhaps I simply do not want to see them ?), but its also just annoying like hell ! When you type /me laughs "that was funny" ... do you really need to emphasise it with a smiley face behind ?

Yes, I sometimes use this "=P" in occ too, but in OOC not in my roleplay !! In my roleplay I simply type /me laughs " that is funny !!" and if I want to emphasise it, I just emote it !!! *rolls her eyes dramatically thinking this is really not that hard* (<----like that !)

Second there is the shortness of posts lately. I do not expect people to para roleplay in KoS. KoS is not Gor, it never was and it never will be. But when I compare my beginnings here with what we call RP now, there is a huuge difference ! And the substance of the RP in the past weeks !!! When I go to bed sleeping, or I am at work, out for a date, I place my avatar at the auction. Why do I do this ? Well, its simple ! I always enjoyed reading the roleplay I missed ! I was always reading back and laughing and enjoying the funny/sad/dramatic/big and small stories others created, this gave me inspiration for my own roleplay, and after taking over the Chronicles it gave me the latest gossip that happened in Ireem, too. Sometimes it took nearly an hour to scroll through all the typing, just reading it over, picking out the interesting parts. NOW, when I return from work, a date or whatever I have six hours backup like this:

Last week I really laughed reading back what happened while I was at work. I scrolled quickly through the LOL ^^ OMG - logs until I suddenly found a three-liner (in green) ! I was like: " Yeeees !!! A roleplayer !" and right after I found another green para one, 5 lines even !!! I sooo enjoyed reading it...it took a while...normally in this time I scroll down 20 pages, but hey, I do not complain *grins*

Why I laughed so hard was the reaction these two roleplayers got from the other people around. Instead of enjoying it like I did, people started questioning the green lines: "Isn't green for ooc only ? LOL " the ooc answer was of course "no, this is a roleplay tool, you use it when you want to change your name for example" . The next question came right ahead "Aaaaah.... yeah........and who is Paul* ?!??!???!" (*changed names).

John (Paul) raised his arm " That is me, that is my character name in this game, that is why its in green !"

"Aaaaaaaah, okay ! LOL"

"...........and who is Max then ? " ...........

After a while, trying to involve others into their RP they obviously gave up, as I just got 30 more pages of what i normally get *sighs*

What I want to say here is: People, get back to RP !!! Emote, what you are doing !! Pleeeeeaase !!!!

I am the editor of the Chronicles. My job is to bring roleplay stories into the newspaper. We had times, where Tim and I did not know what to poste first. We got 3 good stories a day and were like: "you take this and I do that, bla bla... !" "Noo ! This one is too long you take the other one or I will never play !" "okay okay I take the two short ones and you the long !" " DEAL"

NOW it is like that:

"Lets go and check the inbox infront of the office!"

"you have ZERO notecards !!"

Heeey what a surprise !! And my favorite is, when you get an Instant message like that:

"hey you ! are u the owner of this paper ? "
/me smiles " Yes, that is me. Can I help you ?"
"gotta story for ya ! I capped a slaver !"
/me still smiles " oh ? you did ? how awesome ! what happened ? "
"just told ya ! capped a slaver ! you can make a story of that ! its a statement to all slavers ! i will kick your asses !!! yes ! write that ! sorry brb, sparing...."
/me 's smile is frozen "............"

Game:

This I keep shorter for those who did not fall asleep yet, and eeerhm...sorry...but things sometimes have to be said ! *grins*

KoS is a game. We are here to have fun ! We all ! But we all have our limits. If I do cross a limit of someone and he/she tells me to stop, I simply stop. Cuz this is a game and it should be fun ! Stop making OOC drama ! Stop judging on others limits ! Stop trying to push someones limit if he/she does not want it ! Stop telling others this person is an ass, only because you did not get what you wanted !! If you dont get it , go on and find someone else to play with ! Its simple ! There are more then 40 people in the sim at the same time EVERYDAY !

Hey you finally reached the end of my complaining post ! If you feel insulted or offended now I am not sorry at all, cuz this only means you find yourself in my examples ! *grins*

But of course I would be happy to get some feedback ! What are your experiences ? What is your opinion about this ? Am I right ? Am I wrong ?

Time to make a decision

My sweet Slaver brothers and sisters, its time to make a decision. You all know I am the official owner of Chronicles now and love to write for it. To run the paper and to rent my office I have to be a citizen.

I always played two roles...pred and prey, and I explained it with the "twin sister story". This confused a lot of people already, but now, wearing a citizen tag as well makes it even harder to understand.

Therefore I had to make a decision what to play. Most of the time I am prey now and for official matters or fights/wars I will be citizen. So I sadly have to tell you: I will be leaving the slavers.

The mixture of groups does not work together and only confuses people. It really breaks my heart as I love you all and love the possibilities of the slaver role. But I am not willing to give up Chronicles so soon.

I just hope you will leave me a door open. And be sure: Citizen/Prey Dinky will be a troublemaker aswell !

Sultana's Throne

Last night I was running around bored, when I suddenly saw one of the doors to Palace wide open and unguarded. I stepped in, finding Second Minister Kadar talking with Knights Leader Jordi.
Hiding behind a curtain, I first listened secretly for a while .... but getting no clue of what they were talking about, I decided to sneak upstairs for having a look at the Sultana's bedroom. Jordi saw me - of course! - and just mentioned "Dinky ... get your ass down here ... what do you think you are doing ? "
I went downstairs grousing "okay okay.... I just wanted to have a look...is that soo bad..." and stood next to both, not sure what to do now. They continued talking and stepped over to the balcony, Harkan the throne guard was daydreaming, when I saw my chance.

Running over to Sultana's throne I jumped on it, wiggeling my ass a little with a big grin in my face. Waiting for one of them to yell at me now, I was surprized to get not a single reaction. Jordi and Kadar even whispering now turned their backs to me and Harkan was leaning against the wall with closed eyes!

I clapped my hands amused and decided to stay as long as possible ... daydreaming away of beeing the Sultana, wearing beautiful gowns and having servants around me all day long. My dreaming quickly ended when Harkan opened his eyes and looked at me, first confused, then hissing on me " Get your ass out of here ! Quick ! "

I jumped up and ran away laughing as he yelled after me "People get arrested for this ! Better do not come back so fast ! "

Still laughing and out of breath I finally reached the cafe, leaning against the wall, panting for air. When I calmed down, I hurried to Chronicles office to make a draw of how I must have looked sitting in that chair !

What do we learn from this little scene ? Palace does not seem to be guarded 24 hours a day, when a little prey like me is even able to enter throne room and sitting in her Majesties chair. I question myself:

• Is our Sultana safe from intruders ?
• Where do all the guards hide when not standing on their position ? Are they playing with the harem girls ?
• Are they even entertaining the Sultana herself ?
• Will I be able to reach her bedroom next time ?

Be sure, the last question will be detected soon ! And probably even more !

Is Real Friendship in SL possible ?

I always was one of those proclaiming " RL ist not SL ... SL is only a game ". The strange thing is: I am not so sure about it any longer.

Some people are able to catch your heart and keep it, no matter how much you try to avoid that... Some appear and disappear and leave a mark .... Some you will never miss again (like my wonderful sis Selena: SIS, I LOVE YA !!) .... and some easily hurt you with a simple word and do not even notice that...

I know, I already hurt some too.... I just can say sorry...that is not my intention...

Whatever...you will still find me proclaiming it is only a game.... *grins*

And those special ones that hold my heart already know that ! Thanks for your friendship !
